She Caved

I've been making a pest of myself for years. Every time I saw Linda it was always the same question, " Will you teach a class at Paper Crown? " Her answers varied a little, " I'll think about it, I have a really good friend who you should call (Bobbie and thank you), What could I teach- seriously?, I don't know if that's my thing, or many times just a sweet smile- I think it translated to you are more annoying than a curious 3 year old.

Thank goodness someone at Glitter Market got Linda at the perfect time and she has agreed to teach her first class at Paper Crown.  I am so excited to have Linda teach at the store and as I have said a hundred times, and confirmed this weekend during my TX art tour, we have the best teachers ANYWHERE.

Here are the specifics-

Coffee Filter Flowers
July 18th
5:30-8:30
The talented Linda Land
 $25.00

Call Paper Crown, 405 848-2389 to reserve your class seat.

I'm hoping we have such a good turn out and of course we will have fun that Linda decides she might be able to teach one more- keep your fingers crossed

Sun is Shining

It is just so nice to see some sun today!

Today's blog is just a hodge podge of things

  • Thank you to everyone who came out for a little noon crafting yesterday at our "First Monday" it's a fun and free opportunity to do a little crafting during the day and catch up with friends. Yesterdays was great but I think it works better after work so the "First Monday" for July and August will be from 5:30-8:00.
  • Don't forget the patriotic classes we have coming up- 4th of July Shadowbox this Thursday, June 6th and Lil Firecracker canvas Thursday, June 13th. Both are $45.00 and include all supplies.

  • Rescheduled Miss Independence to Tuesday, June 18th from 5:30-8:00. Cost is $45.00.

  • Thank you, thank you to everyone who gave to Cheri. She is just blown away (bad word choice but I know Cheri is chuckling)  by your generosity and caring. They are on their way to recovery and as far as I know- no Grant yet.

Along those same lines, thank you to one of Paper Crown's favorite teachers, Heather Ales, for all the time and love you put into Hope for Oklahoma art auction. Friday afternoon when I spoke to Heather, she thought they had raised around $7,000 for tornado relief and she still had several more hours until the auction closed. Great job friend!

Nicole's Journal

Medeah's Mixed Media Canvas

Holly's Watercolor- Holly also designed the logo for Hope for Oklahoma
Colette's Textile Art

Nan's Mixed Media Canvas

Jackie's Pillow

Charlotte's necklace

Linda's Painting

Bobbie's Chandelier

Robin's Doll

Heather's Earrings
Ya'll Take a Bow- very impressive
  • Thank you also to all of our Paper Crown girls who contributed so very generously to Hope for Oklahoma. I believe Jackie, Bobbie, Linda, Robin, Holly, Nicole, Medeah, Charlotte, Colette, Heather and Nan all contributed art. You all are a good group- not only full of talent but more importantly, full of love!

  • No Paper Crown Altered book club tomorrow. Decided it would be better to just double up on our June meeting so swing by the store to drop off your current book and pick up a new one.
  • It's shuffle time at the store so come in to see all the new product. We pack a lot of goodies into our store.

I knew I would forget someone and of course I did- Miss Colette is definitely a Paper Crown girl. So sorry Colette- out of my mind but not my heart- sorry for not proofing better!

P.S.S. - I did it twice- how could I forget Heather. Not only did she come up with this brilliant idea but she organized, ran, updated and invoiced the project- and contributed some of her beautiful earrings. So sorry Heather you are definitely a Paper Crown girl- second to Wonder Woman.

Summer Fun- First Mondays

I think I can speak for everyone- this weather pattern needs to head on out- actually it just needs to dissipate into thin air. I know we are all so very tired of warnings, watches and threats. Hopefully next week's weather will be much, much better and either way we are going to start the week and the month off right with "First Monday."

The first Mondays of June, July and August will be Paper Crown's " First Monday. " Join us on the first Monday of the summer months from 11-2 for some fun and free crafting. It is similar to what we have done summer's past; however this summer, it is over the lunch hour and not at night.  This is a come and go time to learn a new technique and make a little something. Brown bags are welcome and in addition, from 11-2 you will get 15% off your total purchase.

Hope you can join us this Monday June, 3 from 11-2 to kick off the summer and " First Monday"

Also don't forget Hope for Oklahoma auction runs through Friday !

Thanks Heather for an amazing job. It's amazing the success so far and it is will just explode on Friday.

Altered Book Postponed One Week

I hate to do this and who would have thought I would be postponing Altered Book in May but...
Due to the threat of tornadoes and large hail (will this ever end!), we will not be having our altered book swap tonight but will reschedule for next Wed., June 5th. Several of our members travel quite a ways from the OKC area and our members are also scattered throughout the Oklahoma City area. I'm sure since I have done this it will be a beautiful night but we all need a break from that little map in the corner of our TV.

If you would like to do a book this week I think I have some at the store so call to see which ones are available. Theme for next month is cream, silver & pearl. You can also do A page of your choice if you are doubling up.

I apologize for messing up every one's plans but decided our group needed to be known for our artful journals not dinged up cars!

If you haven't done so yet check out www.facebook.com/hopeforok. It is an online auction benefiting the victims of OK tornadoes. It is hosting by Heather Ales a TX teacher at Paper Crown and features art from several of our altered book members.

Stay safe and see you next Wed.

Our Sincere Thank You

This past week we have once again been reminded of what a great country we live in. Our sincerest thank you to all those who have served our country so very unselfishly. We honor and thank you today.

Just a reminder that tonight at 7pm the bidding opens for the Hope for Oklahoma auction. Thank you to Heather Ales for spearheading this event. It will help those in our community who have lost so very much. I hope you all will take a look at the wonderful items that have been so generously donated.  Remember bid high, it is for our neighbors, family and friends.

Paper Crown will be closed today in honor of Memorial Day and tomorrow when I pick up Katie from her mission trip.
