Top 10

We have a serious problem at Paper Crown-absolutely no room in the store. We are jam packed to the rafters and boxes of Christmas goodies that need to come out soon. Our backroom has turned into Paper Tiara- not quite as regal as a crown but just as much a treasure.

As I was wandering through our storeroom of treats,  I kept thinking this is really neat- a lot. So I decided to post my top 10 favorite things from the past weeks goodies.

These are in no particular order- that would require way too much pondering for a Friday afternoon.

1. Jenni Bowlin Flash Cards-
Love the sweet pictures and font. It remind me of elementary school.

 2. Renaissance Ribbon-
It is definitely the cream of the crop and I love these Fall colors; they match Gerdie.

3. Authentique Paper Original-
Finally a "boy" paper. Nothing more needs to be said. If you have boys come and get it.

4. Prima Chalk Inks-
Love the size, the handle and the consistency- not too dry.

5. Heidi Swapp- Memory Frame
Perfect doable xmas gift for dad or grandpa; the stand is perfect for their desk. Just add paper and pictures and you are done.

6. Authentique Papers Thankful-
Authentique definitely filled a scrapbooker's void in this shipment. Finally a Thanksgiving paper. If you don't take pictures of the feast it is great for Fall or pumpkin patch.

7. Melissa Frances crown memo/picture holder-
We had to pick this, we all are about crowns!
Great for mom or your little princess.
8. October Afternoon Midway-
It just reminds me of the midway and a corn dog.
9. Crop a dile-
OK, not the prettiest or most exciting but what a handy dandy tool for crafts, home repair, school projects. word of warning- keep away from all males- you will never see it again.
10. October Afternoons Witch Hazel-
Love this set of vintage postcards so so cute and so many uses.

I could have gone on and on. stop by the store and see all of the new treasures.

She Looks Rather Fetching

This dreary rainy day was a perfect time for Miss Gerdie to go to the day spa. She was poked, prodded, glued, painted, and  stuffed and boy does she look good. Miss Gerdie is all ready for Fall and Glitter Market on October 27th. Just a couple of more things to do to make her look her best, unfortunately the weather wasn't cooperating today.

Gerdie isn't the only one ready for Fall. This group had a " hoot" on Tuesday night with Bobbie.
Great job ladies!

I had a long commute this morning. Approx. 3 hours to be exact. As some of you know,  I got married this April but we don't have what you would consider a conventional marriage- at least not now. Austin lives and works in Dallas with his 2 kiddos and I live and work in OKC with my 3 kiddos. None of our middle school and high school kiddos wanted to leave their friends, activities and schools to move to another state so for the time being- 4 yrs. and 8 mos. to be exact- we will be going north and south on the weekends.

If I leave Paper Crown at 4 on Saturdays, I can be at the house on Sunnyland (don't you love that name) by 7:30, just in time for dinner. Last night we had a neighborhood dinner and I was able to meet a lot of my neighbors. It is a fun street full of young families with lots and lots of cute kiddos! Austin and I are the oldest by far, except for the lady at the end of the street who is 90 and has a flourishing digital art business.

One of my favorites from last night was the little girl next door. She tugged on my shorts and asked, " Are you a bride?" I responded " well, I was in April."  She then wanted to know if I was married and I said " Yes,  to Austin. "  She then wanted to now if that was my red boy car in the driveway and I said " yes." She then looked at me and asked, " Well if you are married why don't you live here, I never see your car?" When I explained that I lived in OKC with my kids, she wanted to know where they were. Then she wanted to know how we could be married but live in different cities. I'm beginning to realize how very confusing this must be to a 6 yr. old- and a 40 yr. old. I tried to explain that my kids didn't want to leave their schools or their friends and I had a store in OKC.

So of course she asked what kind of store. I replied a craft and scrapbook store and she wanted to know what I had in my store. I told her papers, ribbons, stamps, paint, glitter. Her eyes lit up " You have GLITTER!" I told her I have lots of glitter and her response was "my neighbor has a store full of GLITTER and it's not HERE!" I promised to bring glitter next time I headed south. I think I just got my first customer for the southern Paper Crown!

New Webster's Pages , Authentique and October Afternoon should be arriving this week!

My Fingers and Toes are Crossed

Just when I get the back tables somewhat cleared- ding, dong more boxes on the back dock.  Don't get me wrong it is a good thing but requires massive amounts of head stratching, rearranging. and typing- yuck!

Displayed on the back tables ready to go home with you are.....

Where Women Create

I think the answer could be right here in OKC at the Paper Crown! Here are some pictures of all the Halloween creating that has been going on at the Paper Crown lately.

Johnnie & Kay at last Saturday's class with Bobbie

Fortunately we have a lot of Mother- daughter duos that frequently take classes at Paper Crown. I so wish my mom was alive, she was my first " art " teacher and introduced me to the wonders of Modge Podge- it's old- and Flair Flowers in Tulsa.

Another Mom Daughter duo, Lisa & Libbe, a duct tape artist!

Last Saturday's class with their completed, Miss Pumpkins. I heard rumblings for some sort of repeat class-
possibly a Snow Queen!  I think you were a hit Miss Bobbie!

Last night was Jackie's Haunted book class. It is always a treat when I get to participate. Thought this would be a cute Halloween decoration for those cuties at the Kappa Kapital in Waco. Thanks again for a wonderful evening Jackie!

Truth be told I didn't actually finish- had to run Em back and forth from football -so I posed with Jackie's sample! Everyone else finished and what a fun night. We were glad to have Sissy with us last night, she had to leave a tad bit early and missed the picture. We are glad you are feeling better Sissy and can't wait until you are back to " regular" class status!

If you don't see your smiling face you missed out but hopefully you can make one - or several- of the upcoming classes. Prior blog postings have a list of Fall classes and there is at least one opening in all the remaining classes.

I think Paper Crown is definitely
"Where Women Create ! "
