Clock is Ticking

Clock is ticking and I would hate for you to miss out on this. The deadline for the Paper Crown Spring Glitter Retreat is just one short week from today,  Monday, April 9th. You won't want to miss this fun weekend full of friends, projects, tasty food, field trip, swaps, and lots of surprises!

Our weekend will start Thursday with an ice breaker dinner, swap and a little painting  to get those creative juices flowing. Friday morning after breakfast, we will have our first of four classes. Our teachers are the oh so talented quartet of Angie Myers, Jackie Peters, Lesa Daily, and Medeah Kitsmiller.  A fun surprise for lunch and then it is off to a little excursion for some treasure hunting.
One more class on Fridat followed by a few more surprises, dinner and a swap.

Our day of fun and creating I'm sure will result in sweet dreams but no sleeping in on Saturday, we are only half way done! After breakfast we will begin our third class, what better way to start a weekend. After a relaxing lunch and swap in the Paper Attic we will finish the weekend with our fourth class. There will also be a couple of special shopping events only for those enrolled in the retreat. One will be a special sneak preview of things to come in the Fall.

Retreat cost of $400 includes four classes and supplies, desert bar on Thursday , two breakfasts, two lunches, dinner Friday, class favors, goodie " bags", surprises, opportunity to participate in three swaps, discounted shopping all weekend and a sneak peek at Glitter Market.

It is a fun, fun weekend and you won't want to miss!

Almost Too Pretty To Use

If you are like most of us, you have a stash of arts and crafts goodies that are sitting in a sack just waiting to be used. One nice thing about these supplies is that they are so darn pretty you might not want to use them but just add them to a vignette in your home- seriously!

I love, love, love these new hand carved wooden stamps. They are just almost too pretty to use. They are bigger than they seem in the pictures, about palm sized, and have such detailed patterns. Not only are they beautiful on paper but I saw a picture where they had stamped on a little girl's dress- adorable. The packaging on these stamps is also so neat. On each tag is strung with a bead and a tiny brass bell- an extra treat!

Every time I get a reshipment of velvet in I can't resist taking a picture. These are just luscious
My advice, come and get it while the getting is good!

Numero Deux de la Surprise

I mentioned last week that this month's shipment of Somerset magazines was full of surprises. My second surprise was a beautiful tribute article by one of our favorites, Colette Copeland.

Colette's tribute honors her husband whom she lost tragically and just as their life was beginning. It is a lovely tribute and those of you who know Colette from the Paper Crown, class or Glitter Market will definitely want to read this article. Colette, we are all so very grateful you decided to swim!

Sorpresa!

That's Italian for surprise! Those Somerset magazines are once again full of surprises and smiles. A new shipment came in yesterday- Somerset Life, Where Women Create Business, Mingle, Somerset Memories and Art Journaling. They are all very good but a couple in particular.

My routine when a new shipment comes in is to grab one of each and take them home for a little late pm bed reading. Just a few pages into Where Women Create Business I came across this...

La Dolce Vita Retreat hosted by Carolyn Peeler and Terri Brush

In my opinion this is one of the very best retreats and such a chance of a lifetime. A beautiful setting, amazing food, hosts with the mostest- and then some, generous teachers with gorgeous projects, fun field trips, great shopping and daily treats- who doesn't love that! If you ever have the opportunity to join this creative fairtytale go for it!

This spread also made me smile because two of my friends- Diane CA and Diane TX are in the top left pic. We had a cooking class that day at the Count's and they are preparing some kind of chicken- can't remember the exact name, it sounds much more exotic than chicken but it was one of the best meals I have ever had. I even remember crying at lunch because it was so perfect- I can't believe I admitted that for all to read, I'm a baby I admit!

If you can't go to Italy this summer you can experience a good portion of the experience here at home. One of the La Dolce Vita founders, Terri Brush, will be here in OKC in November for three days of creating and vending at Glitter Market.

I know some of you just can't sign up this early due to kiddos and school schedules but for those of you that can, I would jump in before it's too late. The Sunday class in particular is filling up quickly. It's not Italy but you can still get a little taste of what you might experience with Terri at the retreat.

I discovered another Somerset surprise this morning- more on that tomorrow. Arrivederci!

P.S. Diane CA and Diane TX miss you both and can't wait until we have a reunion!

Card Class with a Twist-or two

We haven't had a lot of card classes at Paper Crown. I think I was looking for something a little outside the norm- something a little more "modern" than "crafty." Look what walked in the door...

Cards with a Twist
Thurs., April 16th
5:30-8:30
Kent Mullens, $40

Kent will guide you through these 6 cards using products from two of his favorites, Tim Holtz and Dina Wakley. Not only will you go home with 6 unique cards but learn some techniques that are transferable to so many other projects and mediums.

Kent has been coming in Paper Crown for quite some time and is the "Tim Holtz" guy. He takes Tim's products and creates some of the most unique pieces. Kent was one of the January winners for Tim's tag contest. Kent has also been recognized by Graphic 45 for his projects. It's always fun to see what he has created when he comes into the store. I decided it was time to see if he would share his talent and lucky for us, he said yes.

Kent's winning tag from the Tim Holtz challenge

You won't want to miss this class!
To reserve your spot just call Paper Crown at 405 848-2389.

More boxes came in this week lots to look at on this rainy day!
