February Classes

Still trying to decide if I want to continue with the blog or just use Facebook and Instagram. Pros and cons of both and I do the history we can maintain on the blog. Thoughts?

Here is a quick post on the classes we have coming up in February. Some of my favorite teachers and a great variety of projects.

Treasure Collector Doll

 Workshop description:  Have you been craving a way to display your tiny treasures collected over the years?  Well here is your chance to create an art doll who can do just that!  A collaged plastic body provides the perfect foil for a skirt made from copper mesh.  You will learn a variety of cold connections (eyelets, nuts and bolts, wire-working, etc.) for attaching your treasures to the skirt.  You will also learn how to manipulate the mesh to create wonderful additions to your doll’s outfit.  Further, we will discuss how to combine some of your treasures into new, artistic pieces



Supply list:

               Basic tool kit (x-acto blade, ruler, scissors)

               Favorite treasures…beads, charms, trims, metal bits, etc.        

               Favorite lightweight papers for collage

               Eyelet setter for 1/8” eyelets

               Rawhide/nylon mallet

               Thin gauge metal from candy and cookie tins,etc.

               Chain nose pliers

               Round nose pliers

                   
$20 Kit Fee (included in the $130 price)

               Doll body

Chain Reaction Necklace

Workshop description:  You will create a locket out of a vintage aspirin tin that features a real tintype on the cover and fill it with miniature vignettes featuring shrink plastic people.  Learn how to form fantastic links from your favorite treasures and design a stunning work of wearable art.  Techniques in wire wrapping and metalworking will be demonstrated, along with discussions about layout and incorporation of unusual materials.  Yes, you will definitely get a “chain reaction” from everyone who sees your fabulous new neckwear!
