Perfect Craft Day

What a perfect day for crafting- rainy, cool - wish I was at home in my paint and glue splattered sweatshirt. Not a perfect day for a football game, especially the muddy uniform following the game. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

I know most of you at home have quite a selection of wonderful Paper Crown products to begin a project but thought I would tempt you with what came in last week. We have officially run out of room. The back tables are full of Christmas and the extra chairs are serving as a kind of temporary table for the other that arrived last week.

Holiday Classes 2013

The classes this summer were a little sparse - life really demanded center stage- but I promised our regular line up of fall and holiday class and here is our second installment, Holiday classes. Our Fall classes have been a little slow taking off so hopefully this round will get everyone in the mood to create. As I have said many times, we have some of the most amazing local teachers at Paper Crown. So many stores have to depend on bringing in teachers but we have the very best here on a regular basis. Let's not take for granted how very lucky we are at Paper Crown.

Another Holiday tradition is Jackie's Christmas countdown journals. This is a great, quick way to countdown the Holiday season. Just in time for this project, the adorable Cavallini vintage dog and

Christmas Pixie House

Spooktacular Halloween Class & Goodies

 

After a long and sparse summer of not so many classes, we are finally getting back in the groove, and Bobbie is the first to break this dry spell. To get you all in the Halloween spirit, Bobbie has created this  adorable crow who is counting down to the 31st. This fun guy is perched on a wine bottle and will be the perfect addition to your Halloween mantle or table. I know you are all ready for classes so don't let this one slip by.

Ole Black Crow Class will be held next Thursday, Oct. 10 from 5:30-7:30. Bobbie says this is a quickie. It would be a great class to wet your feet if you have been wanting to try a class at Paper Crown. To reserve your spot simply call the store at 405 848-2389. Cost of class is $35.00 which includes all supplies.

 It might be a great excuse to buy a bottle of wine (Bobbie's is dark glass), light a fire and enjoy the cool weather this weekend. You could kinda think of it as homework : )

Just when I thought I had all my Halloween goodies in, look what arrived yesterday. I forgot about both of these lines but really like each one. The Halloween photo overlays give your pictures that spooky look without all the photo editing. This line has fun, unique designs, not the usual Halloween patterns.

 

This line is very vintage Halloween. The papers are great but I love, love the ephemera/ die cut packs. If you haven't done a Halloween project this season, these die cuts will set your brain racing.

 

 

Christmas is also starting to make an appearance in the back. Lots of fun stuff at the store, it's a great time to come by and take a peek.

We Have a Celebrity In our Midst

 

 

 

I remember this spring when I picked up Colette from the airport, she mentioned that she had just photographed and documented the creative process for several projects which were going to be featured in an upcoming Somerset magazine. Fast forward a few month and look what I discovered this week while unpacking boxes.

 

 

I felt like a proud mom when I saw the top billing and the substantial feature article on Colette and her art. Really it was kinda like Em's football game last pm only a thousand times better- no smelly car ride home and no laundry! The article illustrates the techniques Colette uses in four of Colette's projects and highlights several of her other works. Many I think have been at our very own Glitter Market. If you haven't picked up the current issue of Somerset Workshop you will want to. I might even have Colette sign my copy next time she is in town.

Colette gave me this cutie at her last visit. It sit by the register so I can admire it everyday.

 



At the end of the magazine is a section entitled, " Meet the Artist." Colette explains how she got started in art- through a paint by number kit- and her style of artwork- minimalist. Then my eyes skipped to the last sentence and a group of words that were oh, so familiar- "the Paper Crown in Oklahoma City and Glitter Market." Girls we have hit the big time, our first mention in a Somerset magazine- YIPPEE!!! Wonder if people all over the US are wondering about our little shop? Thanks for the mention Colette, we can't wait to see you this spring at Glitter Market. Hope the paparazzi aren't out in force : )
