Debby Schuh Weekend- Part 2 A Day at the Seashore Book

This is the second class in the Debby Schuh weekend, A Day at the Seashore Book. Debby has cleverly taken a Little Golden storybook and transformed it into an album for your favorite beach vacation.

 Some of my happiest memories are of days spent at the seashore – whether it’s in Florida or Texas or California or somewhere else across the world – most of us have pictures and memorabilia from these special times that need a home.

In this class we will be making a darling album using the classic Little Golden book, “A Day at the Seashore” as the foundation of our project. We’ll take the book apart and then refashion it with the beautiful new collection “By the Sea” from Graphic 45, and mix it with goodies from American Crafts, October Afternoon, 7gypsies, and more, along with gorgeous ribbon from May Arts. We’ll be making interactive pages with fold-outs and pockets and page protectors and all the techniques that Debby is known for – you’ll love the possibilities that this book presents to include lots and lots of photos and techniques that you can apply to your other paper crafts projects.

 

Student supply list: Please bring the following items to class… 12” paper trimmer, pencil, ruler, scoring tool, scissors, strong tape adhesive (1/8” and ½”, if possible), regular tape runner adhesive, Crop a Dile (or 1/16” and 1/4” We R MemoryKeepers Power Punches, Distress Ink (I use Vintage Photo Distress Ink by Ranger), ink blending tool, non-stick craft mat, sanding tool, stapler or Tiny Attacher, Glossy Accents (or other liquid glue or glue dots), corner rounder punch, scallop-edge scissors. Optional: We R MemoryKeepers Tab Punch, Tim Holtz two hole punch, craft knife, cutting mat, flat nose wire cutters.

Debby Schuh Weekend- Part 1 # big ideas#small book

In less than two short weeks my friend Debby Schuh will be at Paper Crown for a weekend of mini album classes. We have many classes at the store that cater to the paper arts girls but the three classes July 25th and 26th are geared for those of you that LOVE scrapbooking and want to learn new techniques and tricks.

Debby is very well know in the scrapbook industry and teaches her unique style to ladies all over the world. Following her trip to OKC, she will be jumping on a plane headed to South Africa to teach. One of the things I love about Debby's classes is she doesn't work for one manufacturer so her projects are a mix of her favorite lines - which also happen to be mine. I think this makes her projects much more interesting and no so matchy matchy.

We are so lucky to have Debby at the store and I know you will have a wonderful time. Not only will you leave with a finished project but probably enough to have a good start on a second project. Debby is very generous with her kits.

Debby and I were roomies this spring at Carolyn Peeler and Teri Brush's La Dolce Vita Retreat in Tuscany. I'm so excited to have a reunion and share our adventure with you. Using the new We R MemoryKeepers 4x4” Instagram album, Debby will guide you in making an encyclopedia of ideas for expanding the room for photos in the small books that are so popular now. The folds and cuts and extensions and add-ins and more will supply a wealth of ideas that can be adapted for any of your paper-crafting projects.

The darling new Styleboard collection by Maggie Holmes from Crate Paper will fill our books with nostalgic charm and be the foundation for the sweet little pages that we’ll make for our favorite photos. The page protectors that come in your album will be perfect for 4x4” or 2x2” Instagram photos or you can crop your photos to fit the pages. We’ll add ribbons and tags and pockets and other little embellishments to make our books the cutest things ever!

Just a Reminder

We have had a lot going on this summer so I thought I'd give you a little reminder about some upcoming events that might have slipped through the cracks.

• Our Miss Girdie Needs a Birdie contest- we started off strong girls but have kinda piddled out this month. Girdie needs some more feathered friends to accompany her in the window. Contest runs through Aug. and no rules, just a bird we can hang from the ceiling. Don't forget there is a $50 Paper Crown gift certificate for the winner! Just in time for all the new lines coming this fall.

• Finally last but certainly not least Kid's Camp!!



All Set- at least for today!

Getting the store all situated with all the new items out never seems to last too long but as of now, all the new goodies are out and the vignettes are new and fresh. I'll take that back. There is one little area I forgot to flip. Let's see if you can remember- the first one to get it right will get a goodie from that area. Let me tempt you...

 

 

I know it won't last long- I can think of 5 brands on the way but for the moment we are all out and in our place. Also coming this week- papers and goodies from Italy, samples for the Debby Schuh weekend and my Italian crafting adventure- Could it be for YOU sometime soon!

We have one spot left in Bobbie's Christmas in July this Saturday, July 12th from 10-4. Cost for all supplies, 5 projects and lunch is $60. Speedy fingers will get this spot : )

Ho! Ho! WHAT!

Yes, you read correctly! Even though it is predicted to be in the 90's ( honestly all the more reason to be in  cool Paper Crown) and we are wearing more shorts than coats, we will be celebrating Christmas in July this Saturday with Bobbie's event.

I know some of you early birds would like to get a head start on your holiday decorations so this will be perfect. Bobbie will be teaching 5 gold/silver holiday decorations to get you off to a great start this year. $60 fee includes: 5 projects, lunch and some holiday goodies. In addition, we will have holiday papers and embellishments on sale in the backroom. Can you believe it,  I have already ordered a couple of new holiday lines for this season.

What a Weekend!

You know those movie marathons they have on the weekends, well Paper Crown added our own crafty twist to that and had a Character Construction paper doll weekend. Three paper doll classes in two days, a group of fun students, the best treats bar none and the world's best and probably a little tired teacher, Jackie.

with a bang.



We had a lot of new students in this class on Friday. Welcome Greg, Anson, Joyce, Sondra & Debbie!

We had three student who traveled to Paper Crown for class. Greg and Anson came from CA. we hope they will make the trip to OKC again soon. Maybe next time Greg can teach us his passion.

What a fun group. So fun for Bobbie to be in the student role as opposed to teaching.
