A Few Presents for those Paper Lovers on Your List

One of my favorite discoveries of 2013 was Sugarboo Designs. I love there mini gift enclosure cards and all the vintage notepads and paper products. The paper reminds me of my Big Chief tablet at the beginning of school. A new shipment arrived yesterday so we have a lot of choices for those last minute gifts. Perfect for a hostess gift or just that little something more to even things out. Here are some of my favorites.

We also have a few of these adorable notebooks from the Where Women Create collection. These come in blue, golden and pumpkin. Great for jotting down notes or the "bones" for a mini album.

I bet most of you have wrapping on your list this weekend. Instead of throwing all that paper and ribbon in the trash after Christmas, think about using beautiful ribbon. it's easy to put in a pile after unwrapping and then you have a craft stash for the new year. Your presents will also look so much more luxurious. We have yards and yards of ribbon and a fun line of Christmas paper inspired by Basic Grey.

If vintage is more your love, no one does it better than Cavallini and think of all the collaging you can do with discarded wrapping.

We'll Start a Little Early

Tomorrow morning is the Holiday Soiree and since it is such a busy time of year, we are starting a little early at 9:30 am. We will have breakfast ready so go ahead a sleep in a bit. With an early start, you will still have time to hit the shops and finish up your shopping.
A close up of queenies skirt, a bird cage!

If you are saying, "Darn I missed it AGAIN!" you are in luck!   Bobbie has a couple of extra kits so call the store and you can join us tomorrow. In addition to this adorable class, your class fee of $60 will include lite breakfast, lunch, snacks and even a few give aways! This is a great way to celebrate the holiday season and wrap up a year full of wonderful classes at Paper Crown.

Not Too Late

With all the snow and ice this weekend some of you might be anxious to get out of the house. Paper Crown has a couple of opportunities to "get out" and express all your holiday creativity.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, December 10th is Jackie's Pixie House Class. We still have room for a few more so if you are going stir crazy, head out tomorrow evening for a bit of fun. Class is $35 and includes all supplies. If you have signed up please bring your basic kit, glue gun and heat gun. I believe the weather is supposed to be warmer tomorrow so driving should be much better. Nevertheless, everyone please be careful and hopefully you out of towners will be able to make it. If not, your kits will be waiting.

Bobbie's Halloween Soiree was such a huge success that she agreed to host a similar "Holiday Soiree" this Saturday, December 14 from 9:30-1:30. With the weather we have had this past week, I honestly can't think of an more appropriate holiday project. Hopefully this holiday snow queen will not bring any of the real stuff. Cost for the event is $60 and we have just a few seats left. In addition to the project we will provide lunch and maybe even a few holiday treats.

To sign up for either Jackie's Pixie House or Bobbie's Holiday Soiree, simply call Paper Crown at 848-2389.

We still have a good selection of holiday papers for your decorating and who wouldn't want a Paper Crown gift certificate!

Ever since the kid's were little and went away for summer camp, my No. 1 rule has been "get in front of the camera." Nothing a mom likes more than seeing pictures of her smiling happy kiddos. Katie always managed to find the camera, the boys not so much. I think there were years they actually hid from the photographer.

Maybe to appease his mama - or to make his mom feel terrible because she was suppose to bring his heavy coat and gloves on Satrurday- Payne got in front of the camera.

As I'm snuggled up on the couch with a blanket, hot chocolate and Lexie, this flashes on the TV screen. A very cold Payne and the Baylor Snufflafugus. At least Glendale should be warm! Sic 'Em Bears!

Santa Brought a Little Teaser

Santa must of wanted to get a little head start on some of his deliveries this year. These presents arrived this week ...

October Afternoon has decided to print a kind of " mini line" Daily Flash to tempt those obsessed with the Project Life craze. We received the 1st of the Daily Flash line which includes 3 mini lines and the embellishments. We always love the coloring with October Afternoon and these will not disappoint. There is a Christmas line, a Fall line, just in time for last week's Thanksgiving pictures and a school line.  Unfortunately, the albums and pages are arriving in the 2nd shipment (for those of you who took Debby Schuh's class this fall, you used the pages in her album- sorry Debbie- hopefully just a bit longer).

Just in time for your Daily Flash or Project Life, we have a second shipment of the 3x4 punch. This will fly out of the store so if you have been waiting,  I would give me a call. Hint- this is the perfect size to make your own Christmas tags. That might be the perfect project for later this week when the snow and ice hit.

We are always looking for a cute baby line and for some reason it can be difficult to find a cute one but I think we hit the jackpot.

Just out of the dye pot, some perfectly aged ribbon for your vintage projects.

Tonight is Jackie's Christmas Journal class, don't forget your supplies listed on Jackie's blog, Good Grief Girdie, and please try to be on time. It will be a busy evening.

It sounds like now might be a good time to review our inclement weather policy- if the Oklahoma City schools are closed, chances are Paper Crown will be also. If the weather is ify, it is best to call the store first before you head out. If the weathermen are correct we will be snowed/ iced in on Friday so swing by the store the next few days to get everything you need for your holiday projects!

Thanksgiving Table

Just a few goodies we have at the store that will give your Thanksgiving table a new look...

Love these lanterns. I have a couple of styles at the store and have used them to decorate all over my house- dining table, foyer dresser, lining the stairs & coffee table. These are my current favorite decorating item-the possibilities are endless.

Another staple in my decorating is cake stands. I have a ton and use them often. The perfect solution if you need height and they also work great for cake  : )
Fall place cards by one of our favorite companies , or if you are feeling creative...

Wheat stamp by Tim Holtz would make a beautiful place card.

Fun craft for the kid's table- autumnal paper chain. An easy craft to give the kiddos something to do while you are busy I the kitchen

Love these willow candle baskets, inexpensive and perfect for just a tea light at the dining table. The little bird baths have also made it to my table; they come in cream, patina green and gray.

The double willow milk bottle holders are perfect for flowers. A pretty bunch from Whole Foods would fill several holders and not break the bank. I love the harvest,  rustic look for a Thanksgiving table.

These cute fall sacks could hold a tag stating what each guest is thankful for.

Just a few last minute Thanksgiving ideas.

Paper Crown will close
on Wednesday at 3 pm
and reopen Friday at 10am.

Despite the Cold, Glitter Market Was a Hit

With all the sleet icy and cold north wind that blew in to OKC on Friday I was a little unsure about Glitter Market this year but check out these dedicated patrons who were braving the chill at least an hour and a half before we opened the doors. A special thank you to you crazy girls, you are what makes Glitter Market such a success - I hope rest of your day was warm and toasty.

We had a great group of vendors this year and as always, a fantastic and loyal group of Glitter Market customers who are so very supportive of our artists. Vendors this year were..

Medeah and Peggy

Nicole

Robin, wish I had recorded your Soul Train dance

Charlotte, love this pic.

Darling Duo Susan & Janet

Yes, I had to take these vendor pics from Jackie's blog because I'm always running around like a crazy person the morning of Glitter Market and I didn't get a pic of Jackie and Kay from Saturday- sorry girls; (

Newbie Heather

And last but not least, Bobbie

Ladies thank you again for all the time, energy and help you put into Glitter Market. Your work is amazing and I'm so glad we have an opportunity to share with those outside of the store. Thank you also for all your help in planning, promoting, setting up and tearing down. There is no way it would be possible without your help. Thank you also to your families who have had to sacrifice and help for Glitter Market. It truly is a family affair. A special thank you also to Heather Ales. Heather has been busy creating for weeks and packed up the car very, very early Saturday am in Dallas only to have to turn around after she crossed the border due to poor road conditions. Thank you for trying Heather and we will see you next time.

Thank you to Cheri who was gracious enough to come help us out. I have to agree with Debbie, marriage and motherhood are definitely agreeing with you- you have NEVER looked prettier or happier. Cheri came back later in the afternoon with baby Grant but no pictures because I was too busy hogging him!

Thank you also to Linley for helping me run errands the morning of Market. You were a huge hit and as always it is so very good to see you!

I would say that despite old man Winter we had a wonderful Glitter Market and thank you again patrons, vendors and families for ALL your help and support. I am thankful for each and every one of you!
