What Can I Say

Don't you just love this picture!

Really what can I say about Jackie other than she is "practically perfect in very possible way." If you have ever seen her unpack for class or Glitter Market you will swear she has a magic carpet bag just like Mary Poppins.

Jackie has taught more classes than I can count, been the driving force in Glitter Market- and that long line waiting to get in, and my encourager and helper in all things Paper Crown. She will have an amazing  stash of goodies for sale on Saturday but here is just a small sample of what you can expect....

It will be easy to find Jackie's table on Saturday- just follow the mob!

Glitter Girl Linda Land

Our second featured Glitter Market vendor is Linda Land. I don't think Linda would mind me calling her glitter girl because I know she is a fan of that shiny, messy stuff.

Linda is one of the most talented and the most humble artists I know. She has actually said to me" what would I teach and who would want to take a class from me" Seriously!!! All of us who know her realize what an amazingly talented and kind person she is. I hope someday she truly realizes how very special she is.

Linda and I met when Katie was in kindergarten and her daughter Emma was in first grade. Linda did all the play backdrops and costumes- not and easy act to follow. For years I wanted  the Linda Land painting at the school auction but was always out bid. I had the mind set "I just want a Linda Land painting." I looked around the house and I have four. Apparently I still have that mindset as I snatch her lastest creation. Yes, I have my eyes set on one from this spring's Glitter Market but I'm not about to tell you which one.

Here is some good Linda Trivia. If you are a fan of Iron Starr, you will recall those large cowgirl and cowboy paintings hanging in the restaurant- Linda did those. Also the collaborative floral painting we have done in Kid's camp and for an adult class- Linda was the original- which kinda makes me a copy cat ; ( There I owned it, sorry friend.

Glitter Market Preview- Colette Copeland

What better way to start off the preview of our Glitter Market vendors than with Toronto mixed media artist, Colette Copeland. We are so very pleased to announce that Colette will be at Glitter Market this week. Colette is a frequent contributor to the many Somerset Studio publications and often their featured artist.

Colette's simplistic style of mixed media art is a favorite in our art community and I feel blessed that she has agreed to share her talents with us.  If you have been following Colette's blog, www.a-bird-in-the-hand.blogspot.com, you are aware that she has been busy this winter getting ready for Glitter Market.

Special Evening with Colette

Come spend Thursday evening with Colette and her wildly popular Project Runway class. Share an evening learning from Colette and creating either a trio of frocks or one spectacular frock. Class cost includes all supplies. You won't want to miss out on this class from one of Somerset Studio's favorite mixed media artists.

Paper Crown Glitter Market Just Around the Corner

The spring Glitter Market will be here in just 8 days!

For those of you who have never made this event or are unfamiliar, Paper Crown Glitter Market is  a handmade arts event hosted by the store usually twice a year, the spring and fall. It is typically held in a vacant storefront in Casady Square and this spring will be held in the former Store it in Style location, 9321 N. Penn. This is where Glitter Market was held last fall. It is conveniently located just 5 doors down from Paper Crown.

Fall Paper Crown Glitter Market vendor - Arlene Jacobs

Twelve artisan vendors will have hand made goods for sale ranging from jewelry to home decor and everything in between. Many of the vendors are our favorite Paper Crown teachers. We also have several artists from out of state, and even out of the country, that will be showing their unique creations. Since this market is held in the spring it will focus on Mother's Day, graduation, weddings and babies. The items are truly one of a kind and of the highest quality- this is not your average craft fair!

Jackie has been busy all winter adding to her unique and popular line of goodies

Paper Crown Glitter Market will be held one day only, Saturday, May 4th from 10 am- 5pm. Although the doors will not open until 10 I guarantee a line will be forming much earlier. In addition to the day's best shopping, there will be several drawings for a Glitter Market basket and Paper Crown gift certificate. This is a great time to grab a snack, pick up some fabulous gift items, meet our teachers and be inspired!

Charlotte Perez will be joining us again with her beautiful jewelry- what a great gift for mom.

Once you have hit Glitter Market it is just a short stroll down the sidewalk to Paper Crown where the inspiration began. We have just what you need to make all those ideas swimming in your head come to life. In addition, we will unveil our plans and events for the upcoming months.

More tomorrow on the amazing Miss Colette Copeland and her wonderful creations
For those of you that live out of town and have been wanting to find out what Paper Crown is all about, here is your chance. Tulsa, Dallas/ Ft. Worth and Wichita are just short  road trips and nothing makes a trip go faster than a carload of friends. You can find out what all the chatter is about regarding Glitter Market, do some shopping that is unique to OKC and Paper Crown- we are that special and meet our talented staff of teachers. If a carload comes in from out of town I will even treat you to lunch. Next weekend is the perfect time to experience Paper Crown- at it's glitteriest!

I hope to see you all next weekend at Glitter Market and hope many new friends will get to experience Paper Crown for the first time.

The Birds

Birds... that was the theme of this month's Paper Crown Artful Altered Book Swap. As you can see the results were intriguing and as varied as our artists. This was our third month of the swap and naturally some of our artists are beginning to venture from the familiar to new. It can be an intimidating, frustrating, and maddening experience but also so very rewarding when that "new" thing works.

I think this is every one's. If I missed someone I apologize. as you can see we are having a lot of fun and expanding our creativity.

May's theme is a book within a book- the wheels are turning.

Stop by the blog later today for an update on Spring Glitter Market, next Sat. May 4th!
