From the Archives

Today's kit could possibly be from Jackie's first class at Paper Crown. I'm not sure but I know it is one of  the very first classes Jackie ever taught. My how we have grown! Unfortunately I do not have a picture of the finished project but this kit has all the fixins' for an aborable "nest" banner. I will check to see if Jackie has a picture and if not, you can use this like a "goodie bag" and create your own nest banner.

Kit no. 6
Nest Banner
Jackie circa ???
$10.00

This will be the last kit offered for a couple of weeks. I will be out of pocket until the 1st of  July. However we still have a couple of kits left including Medeah's girl and  Jackie's clipboard.

Weekday store hours beginning Friday, June 15- Friday, June 29th will be 10-2:30 and Saturdays 10-4. Beginning Monday, July 2 we will resume normal store hours 10-5:30 Monday - Friday and 10-4 on Saturdays.

On a much sadder note, Saturday June 30th will be Cheri's last day at Paper Crown. Cheri has been at the store since the day I bought it and she will be greatly missed. It will be nice for Cheri to spend her Saturdays with Alan - and fishing! Don't forget to stop by on the 30th and wish Cheri well!

Pam's 4th of July card class is also Saturday, June 30th and there are still a few spots left in the Kid's Summer camps.

I hope you have a wonderful couple of weeks and I can't wait to tell you about my adventure!

Kit no. 5

Our 5th kit is this Mother's mini album. Jackie had this class for Mother's Day but it would be a wonderful b-day present for mom also. The kit includes all the supplies to make this multi paged mini book. It was a sought after class and you could be lucky enough to score the one remaining kit. Simply call the store reserve this kit.

Kit no. 5
Jackie's Mother's Day Book
Circa April 2011- i think
$35.00

Today Girdie received two postcards from the Bullard family who has been vacationing in Florida at Carillon Beach. It sounds like they have had a wonderful time and Girdie is sad she missed out on the crabbing! Thanks Bullards!

Last but certainly not least - the possible store mascot spent the day at the store. She spent a lot of the day sleeping under the desk but did manage to have a little mishap and send the bottom spools of ribbon flying! Hopefully she will be coming back to the store.

The Cutest Clipboard

Kit 4
Clipboard
Jackie circa 2011

This was one of my favorite Jackie classes. I'm not even sure why - possibly it is because of that sweet puppy face. You are in luck we have 2 complete kits for this fun project. If you are interested just call the store, 848-2389.

We also still have one of Medeah's mixed media canvases left- $35.00.

4th of July Card Class

We have not had a card class at Paper Crown for a long time but I think these two 4th of July cards are perfect to get us back in that groove.

These two 4th of July cards will be taught by Pam Hoppers on Saturday, June 30th from 11am- 1pm. I love Pam's projects because they always have this fun"engineering" element to them.

I know my dad would love them- he once designed a study cubby for me in 1st grade but it came home after the 1st day- neither my teacher nor myself could figure out how it worked- she asked dad to just cut out three sides of a box like all all the other parents did!

The second card explodes with stars when you open it- a little hard to catch with a camera but very fun and a little messy- in the good way.

To reserve your class seat call the store at 405 848-2389.

Kit no. 3
Medeah's mixed media girl
$35.00

One of my very favorite classes and we have one kit available. All the supplies are included to create this adorable canvas. Cost is $35.00. Be the first to call and this can be yours.

Although we started off a little slow, the kit "cleanup" is starting to take off and I bet soon it truly will be a race to the phone. If you miss one don't despair, I really have a ton of kits left.

On Your Mark, Get Set GO !

Here we go boys and girls. I was serious about getting rid of some of the clutter around the store and especially my office. So the first of MANY unclaimed kits is going on the block.

 Here are the "rules" -
1. First one to call the store at 405 848-2389 with their credit card is the winner.
2.  Kits include all the parts to the best of our knowledge but we do make mistakes.  If a piece is missing we will try our best to replace it with an exact replica or something comparable.
3. There are no written instructions; however, we will provide photos of the project or if you are in town you are welcome to take your own photos or work on it in the classroom.
4. All kits must be picked up within 2 weeks or they will go back in the pile and your money applied towards store credit only.
5. If you are from out of town we will mail your kit and postage will be added to your invoice.

A Productive Day

Things have gotten a little out of hand at the store was I decided it was time for some spring cleaning. Possibly inspired by Ms. Colette, hopefully Paper Crown didn't inspire her to go home and do some spiffing up but I wouldn't be surprised. Yesterday I tackled the tangles of ribbon. For the moment it is all organized and tidy and overflowing the bins. I was able to uncover the bolt of twine I knew I bought a month ago but had disappeared- sorry Medeah. It feels good to straighten up.

I also did a mound of filing. No picture of that- it's not an interesting or pretty sight. Usually I just cram so much in the magnetic holder on the side of the file cabinet that it crashes to the floor and then piles up until I can't close my office door and hide my mess.

My next project is the office. This is the right side of my office.

The entire right wall is piled up with kits- unclaimed class kits. I have decided my office is no longer going to be the storage area so until this mess is gone, I will feature one kit at a time and the first caller is the winner. I decided to make this call in only that way those of you followers from out of town have a chance at the goodies. None of the kits have instructions but I believe I have all the samples at the store and will provide all the pictures needed to complete. The first kit will be on display tomorrow, Friday, June 8th.

Yipee Skippy Ms. Girdie received another postcard yesterday from Ms. Donna and her trip to Sanibel and Captiva Islands- we thought Donna looked awfully tan and rested at the last class! Don't forget to send Girdie a postcard and enter your name in a drawing for a Paper Crown gift certificate.

Don't Forget
Jackie's 4th of July Canvas class tonight at 5:30.

I Caved!

I'm fairly certain a picture is worth a thousand words- no explanation is needed. She will be arriving on Friday. However I do want it made perfectly clear this is the LAST time you will see my pup in a halter top/ tutu whatever this thing is. Oh what have I done!!!!

On a good note- more chores have been done at my house today that ever!

Yipee Skippy Kid's Camp

Summer is here and I have the perfect solution for those whines of " I'm SO bored!" Paper Crown summer camp! It's fun, cool and the kiddos produce the most amazing art. We have the most talented kiddos in OKC! It is truly a breeze to teach these young artists.

We will have a morning and an afternoon session of camp in July, from the 16th- 19th and another morning and afternoon session in August, from 6th-9th. The morning session will be from 9:30-12:30 and the afternoon from 2-5. Cost per session is $200 and includes all your supplies and snacks.

Typically we will do two large projects and one- two smaller projects per session.

Room is limited so it's best to call early to reserve your class seat.

Mail Call

Miss Girdie is excited! She received not one but two postcards today. The first was a beautiful collaged postcard from Beth Boothe documenting her trip to Columbus, Ohio. Beth's husband was away on business so she just joined him for a week of fun in Ohio. Girdie has been raving about this handmade card!  The second post has a sophisticated international feel to it because it's from our very favorite person, Ms. Collette Copeland! Colette wishes Girdie Happy Travels and we wish Miss Colette the same, especially right back to OKC!

Girdie had such a fun time reading her postcards so please don't forget to drop her a line as you travel this summer! Girdie's postcard contest will go through Labor day and participants are registered for a Paper Crown gift certificate. Let's keep the mailman busy this summer!

There are a couple of openings left in the 4th of July class this Thursday pm  at 5:30. Cost is $40 and includes all of your supplies. Call  Paper Crown at 405-848-2389 to reserve your spot.

Don't forget your postcards or your ideas on our round robin altered book. Have a great day!

What do You all Think?

At the moment it just looks like an ordinary boring book ( actually an upside down book) But get it in the hands of several creative girls who will stamp it, distress it, collage it, paint it, carve it, fold it, and of course, glitter it and it will become a work of art. That is what an altered book is and we are toying with the idea of starting an a year long round robin altered book " club, group, gaggle" whatever we decide to call it this fall.

The commitment is for one year and we would meet once a month to work on and swap books. The cost is free you just provide the book and supplies. You would work on your book once a month and at the end of the evening, you swap with a neighbor and they have that month to create a " layout." The next month we will meet again and swap books.

Jackie and I thought this might be a fun way to let off some creative steam. We do not have a particular date set at this time but most likely a Mon, Tues or Wed pm.We also thought about having a potluck dinner/snack to help make it even more festive.  Let us know what you think, if you have any suggestions or if you are interested in participating. We can't wait to hear your ideas.

New gorgeous ribbon from Melissa Frances

Need a decorating boost- have about bringing a little nature indoors

Have a great weekend and hopefully this rain will stop!
