Perfect Weekend

Even our crazy snow in April weather couldn't ruin our weekend! We had a very full and fun weekend at Paper Crown. Started off the busy weekend with three classes from the talented Cindy Mayfield of Yapping Cat Studio. Cindy has a great painting style that we were able to copy. I must say our projects looked much better than I imagined- Cindy is a fabulous teacher and was able to break down each project into manageable pieces. So glad our schedules finally meshed and I hope there are many more classes to come!

 

 

 

 

On Sunday we were thrilled to have Nan home to teach. Nan is our resident stitchologist extraordinaire. A fitting title that we all came up with while singing Nan's praises. The things that this girl can do with a needle and thread! She inspires and teaches and we are just so glad to have her home.

 

 

 These class kits were gorgeous and all the time and love that went into each of them- Amazing! Lucky us Nan gave each of us a stitched " cheat sheet" which was quite the gift. I can't wait to frame my little piece of Nan art.

We are thrilled that the talented Cindy Mayfield of Yapping Cat Studio will be teaching at Paper Crown this weekend. We have been bugging Cindy to come teach for years and we are pleased to say we finally wore the poor girl down! We have a couple of spots still available in each of her three classes. Our Girl is Coming Home!!

Can't think of a better way to top off a creative weekend than a relaxing stitching day with our girl Nan. Nan has been a loyal Paper Crown girl since the beginning but a couple of years ago moved to UT to be close to family. We all have missed here terribly and are thrilled to have her lead us in a stitching class this Sunday.

I can't think of a more talented stitcher and she is also a very patient teacher- and awfully generous also. We are looking forward to  Sunday when we can learn a new craft and spend the day catching up.

The class is sold out but for those of you that signed up, please bring scissors, reading glasses if needed, measuring tape and your jacket or whatever you choose to embroider on. We will take a lunch break on Sunday and I'll have snacks and bagels.

It's NOT Scary- not one bit!

I know. You are a tad bit scared of this gorgeous painting by Cindy Mayfield and therefore; you are coming up with all kinds of crazy reasons why you shouldn't take this class on Saturday- I can't paint flowers let alone roses, my handwriting is not cute, it will look nothing like the sample and I also can't paint leaves.

Well guess what, it isn't scary at all. Cindy is going to break this 16x20 canvas down into four bite size pieces. She will show you an easy transfer method (which will be handy for lots of projects), some fun free hand (so your handwriting will look like every high school girl- and how did a generation that is constantly typing, all have amazing handwriting- it makes no sense), a simple way to paint roses (that will be worth the price of the class alone) and a little shadow work (it always makes everything look better).   So don't be a scaredy cat- You've Got This! Besides this Saturday is gong to be cold and rainy so why not spend it with your friends.

What a nice surprise! Jackie let me know this am that our friend, Julie Haymaker, who taught at Paper Crown last spring posted a nice article today about the store and our very own Jackie. Such kind words Julie; thank you.

For some reason my computer is not cooperating today (I'm pretty sure it will not make the trip to Waco) so I can't paste the link but Julie's website is juliehaymaker.com.

For those of you that want to try, we have the shrink, Julie's molds including her new one, and the hardware to create these beautiful and fun beads.

 

Julie, once I get the Waco store settled, OF COURSE you and Jackie are welcome to come teach as often as I can drag you down. The door will always be open.
