Although we were a little lacking in numbers, it's a busy time of year, there was definitely not a lack of talent or creativity in our Easter Parade contestants. Thank you to everyone who entered a doll. I appreciate the time it you to dream up your doll, create your doll, transport your doll and wait for the results. Each of you is truly an artist and have inspired me and am sure will do the same for those that follow the blog.

This doll reminds us of one of our favorite students- always laughing with that little spark. We love the peep - what would Easter be without those soft sugary treats and the bunny ears on the pooch are a special touch!

I know it looks difficult BUT Ann-Denise has the doll form complete so you just add the unique characteristics and then get to paint, collage and create. Ann-Denise has done various paper clay classes before and they are always so fun. Students are always glad they stepped outside of their comfort zone to try something new. The weather is supposed to be rainy Saturday so this is the perfect activity. What a perfect present from  the Easter bunny for that special girl.

We all adore Jackie's mini books and this would be a perfect one for Mother's Day. You can bring your own pictures of mom or grandmother or use the vintage ones provided by Jackie. Either way this would be the perfect place to record favorite memories of mom.

Turquoise

Turquoise, that was the theme for March's Artful Altered Book Swap.  !9 of us met last night to talk, enjoy a beautiful dinner- thanks Nan & Robin, and share our month's creation and techniques. As we meet each month we are staying a little longer and growing in awe for each individuals' artistic talent.

Just Monkeying Around

That is what the boys and I did last week. I must admit I was dreading Payne's Sr. trip to Mexico but as Em says " it was all good!" No antics just a lot of sun, rounds of horseshoes, playing in the waves , reading 3 great books- The Healing, Paris Wife & Home, and a little para sailing for Austin's bday.

 

 

 

 

Look closely at Payne's stomach and you can see the creative way he chose to ask his prom date!  

Thanks to Kendall who held down the fort last week. I have all 6 boxes unpacked and we have new flowers from Prima, Scrapbook Trend idea books, 2 new lines from Fancy Pants and a couple of new lines from Splash of Color formerly Creative Imagination.

 

 

Artful Altered book club members don't forget we have our swap this Wednesday night at 5:30. Our theme was turquoise and I might have been inspired by my flight above the ocean.

 

Come see all the new goodies that have arrived at the store, we are full to the brim. C

Just a Little More Time

oPpS! Does your paper doll for the Easter Parade contest look something like this? Just not quite enough time but who doesn't want a $75.00 gift certificate to Paper Crown! You are in luck. Although the contest deadline was the close of business today, I realized that I will not be back at the store until Monday, March 25th. So as long as it's here on the 25th, you are fine. Did I mention the prizes include: $75.00, $50.00, and $25.00 gift certificate to Paper Crown and an additional prize for the out of town contestants. I think it's worth it !

I want to remind everyone that Paper Crown will be closed tomorrow, Sat., March 16th through Wed., March 20th. We will be open Thursday morning at 10 and resume our normal business hours 10-5 M-F and 10-4 on Saturdays.

Lots of new merchandise is still arriving so stop by today and get your Paper Crown fix.

Putting the Finishing Touches on Your Paper Doll

This Friday, March 15th is the deadline to submit your paper doll for the Character Construction Easter Parade contest. Prizes will be awarded to the top three dolls and a special prize for those dolls submitted from outside the OKC area.

Winners will be announced on March 29th and winners awarded Paper Crown gift certificates in the amount of $75.00, $50.00 and $25.00. Free money to spend on all the new spring merchandise. Much better than a chocolate egg.
