Glitter Market 101

19 days and counting... Hopefully you all have this event written in bold letters on your calendar or entered in your phone. However if you haven't ever been to Paper Crown Glitter Market you might be asking what's the fuss.  So here is a primer on what's going on and what to expect.

Glitter Market is a annual and sometimes semi-annual event I hold at Paper Crown to feature some of the art created by our favorite teachers, customers and friends. Our first Glitter Market was held in the backroom of the store but we have quickly out grown that space and now we just rent an empty storefront in our shopping center, Casady Square. This year's Glitter Market will be held in the former Store It In Style location which is just seven doors down from Paper Crown. It is a one day event from 10 am-5pm. That being said, I will tell you we had a line forming at 7:30 AM and it was quite impressive by 10.

This year we will have about a dozen vendors with items ranging from paper arts, textiles, jewelry and the yummiest baked goods. I will post a complete list of vendors as soon as we have a final count and in the next few days I will post "teaser posts" which will highlight individual vendors and their art. This is not a "craft fair" but an "art fair." I guarantee you will not be disappointed! Since Glitter Market is a tad bit earlier this year, there will be items for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas in addition to those that you just will never want to put up.

A few helpful hints for those newbies:
  1.  Arrive EARLY for the best selection- as I said, the line starts forming at the crack of dawn and we have begun to attract artsy shoppers from across the Red River.
  2. Cash is best. A few vendors probably will have the capability to take credit cards ; however, everyone will not, so play it safe. There are ATMs located across the street at the BOK, 7-11 and WalMart.
  3. Be comfortable- it gets crowded!
  4. Leave your cameras at home. This is how our artist's make their living so we ask that you please do not take pictures.
  5. Come hungry- We will have lots of goodies set up so you can keep your shopping stamina up.
  6. After you have been inspired, come visit Paper Crown where all the creativity began.
  7. Help us spread the word by telling all of your friends!

I told you- on your mark get set go!
